In 2017, American Airlines had the most passenger incidents in the industry. They have a higher incident rate than any other carrier and it’s not clear why. The company has been under investigation for their accident rates but that hasn’t fixed anything yet.
The “airline passenger incidents 2021” is a question that has been asked before. American Airlines has had more passenger incidents than other carriers.
Why are there so many more passenger incidents on American Airlines than on other airlines?

On November 15, United Airlines will resume selling booze in coach on flights where it is not currently available. They claim to have fewer in-flight mishaps than certain other carriers (cough).
A 3-cabin first class passenger got into an incident with a flight attendant over a mask on an American Airlines trip from New York JFK to Orange County (AA976) on Wednesday. The passenger assaulted the crewmember as a result, and the aircraft was diverted to Denver.
After being assaulted in the face, the flight attendant had “blood splashed over the outside of her mask,” according to one witness… “They brought her to the hospital because she was bleeding,” another witness told the broadcaster. The suspect was shown in handcuffs at the Denver airport in an internet picture.
Why do so many passenger mishaps — this one seeming to be the worst of them all – tend to happen on American Airlines? To be sure, they’re a lot bigger than Spirit and can transport a lot more people. But why do they have more insane passengers on board than Delta, United, and Southwest? I’m not sure. There are a few theories I’ve considered that don’t quite fit the bill.
- The opiate of the people is seatback video displays. American has eliminated screens, while Delta has increased their use. United, on the other hand, does not have them in all of its planes, despite the fact that they are being added. Southwest doesn’t have them either.
- Other members of the crew are friendlier and keep conflicts at bay. To be sure, Delta cabin crews are often nicer, while Southwest crews seem to be having a good time. The most famous (biting) event occurred on Southwest, while United flight attendants are nearly as diverse as American flight attendants (some fantastic, others…not).

- Low-cost flights American Airlines has transported more people and is ready to load flights at cheaper prices than its traditional competitors. Is a ‘Spirit crowd’ more prone to create difficulties in the air as a result of this? The folks they’ve been flying are “slightly different from our regular customers,” American CEO Doug Parker told staff a year ago. He then takes a step back, saying, “Of course, we adore all of our clients!”
However, the Department of Justice claims that by trying to prevent American and JetBlue from combining, American would suffocate JetBlue’s low-cost airline status. JetBlue, on the other hand, does not seem to have the same amount of craziness.
- Miami is a major hub. Whether it’s Spirit Airlines (Fort Lauderdale) or American Airlines (Miami), many occurrences appear to be centered on South Florida (Miami). Every urban legend takes place in one of two places: Germany or Florida. Is it possible that the placement of their hubs attracts people from the areas most prone to create problems? With the exception of Florida, American seems to be a bit of an oddity.

None of these explanations seem to fit, so why does American Airlines seem to have an unusually high number of people creating difficulties on planes?
