The Curacao complex is still closed and a plan to open it on May 31 has been canceled. The resort was due to open in March but construction delays have caused the opening date to be pushed back by six weeks, according to Sandals Resorts International.

The “curacao resorts” are delayed opening until June 1. The resort is located in Curacao, an island in the Caribbean Sea.

Sandals Royal Curaçao has postponed its scheduled April 14 launch date to June 1 due to global supply chain concerns.

“While we are pleased to inform that Sandals Royal Curaçao is nearing completion, our suppliers have experienced material shortages and delivery delays across the globe.” Obstacles beyond our control are aggravating, but we will not accept anything less than the experience we promised and that our valued travel advisor partners and guests deserve,” stated Adam Stewart, Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts International.

“While we did all we could to prevent this delay, the only thing we can control is how we respond to it, and our visitors, team members, and partners have our word that they will be safeguarded.” With its stunning 3,000-acre protected preserve setting, we are convinced that our first visit to Curaçao will be well worth the wait,” Stewart remarked.

Guests who have been affected by the delay may choose to transfer their impending reservation to another Sandals Resorts site, rebook their existing Sandals Royal Curaçao trip for a later date, or get a full refund.

Sandals Resorts will pay up to $600 per person for any required flight adjustments. Guests will also get a $250 resort credit to utilize at the Red Lane Spa or on Island Routes Tours, as well as potential stay credits for future reservations.

Sandals Royal Curaçao is the first Sandals Resort in Curaçao and the 16th overall. The hotel is located on 44 acres inside the Santa Barbara private estate, a 3,000-acre protected preserve, and is built to catch Caribbean sunsets due to its west-facing location.

The hotel has 351 rooms and suites in 24 different room categories, including two new signature suite categories, the Awa Seaside Butler Bungalows and Kurason Island Poolside Butler Bungalows, which come with Tranquility Soaking Tubs, private pools, butler service, and complimentary sporty and stylish convertible MINI Coopers for guests to drive around the island.

“While we would certainly like to avoid this delay,” Stewart added, “we continue to look forward with enthusiasm to the inauguration of our 16th resort, our first outside of the English-speaking Caribbean.”
