When the going gets tough, people often find themselves procrastinating. Which is a shame because it’s never too late to start focusing on the future and create new adventures for yourself.
“It’s Time to Focus on the Future” is a quote that was said by President Barack Obama. The quote has been used in various contexts, but it mainly refers to the future of America and how we should be focusing our energy there.
It’s time, said to Royal Caribbean CEO Richard Fain, to stop worrying about the epidemic and start talking about a better future.
Fain added in his latest video speech to travel advisers, which he has done on a monthly basis during the cruise industry’s pandemic closure and early reopening, that he hoped this would be the last episode to concentrate on COVID-19.
Fain stated that the epidemic “is obviously not ended,” citing a CDC map from October 20 displaying levels of COVID-19 community transmission per U.S. county. Red denotes counties with ‘high’ levels of community transmission, whereas orange denotes’significant,’ yellow denotes’moderate,’ and blue denotes ‘low.’ There’s a lot more red than blue, as you can see.

Fain’s version of the chart included a cruise ship symbol, which he painted solid blue.
“Although the CDC doesn’t make a comparison, I feel a fair interpretation of all the data, taking all the circumstances into consideration, would paint the ship blue, which is the lowest risk category, definitely better than the majority of counties in America,” Fain said.
“That’s why I’m not going to speak about the sickness anymore.” Now is the time to look forward. The moment has come to concentrate on how we might recover from the fear and the epidemic, rather than how we should live while it is happening.”
The CDC’s charts do not include cruise ships, and there is no similar report. However, according to Fain, there is plenty of evidence that cruising is a safe activity.
“Compared to land-based counterparts, cruise ships offer a few benefits. The great majority of passengers on ships have been vaccinated. We have control over our sanitation, which includes air filtration, among other things. “We can also develop tight procedures,” Fain adds. “As a consequence, we can make ships safer than alternatives on land.”

While COVID-19 is a “pernicious illness,” according to Fain, he thinks it is on its way to being simply another seasonal virus.
“We know how to keep the sickness under control.” “We all need to think differently as it progresses from completely uncontrolled spread with a high level of mortality to a more pervasive, continuous sickness that affects a falling number of people,” he added.

For Fain, thinking differently means returning to ‘regular’ activities, such as taking a cruise vacation. “People want to go on vacation. “I’d even go so far as to suggest that they need to travel,” he adds.
“Vacations that used to be taken for granted are no longer taken for granted.” Demand is increasing again. We’re getting more traffic to our website, and we’re getting more calls and appointments.”

Scientists, according to Fain, deserve a huge “thank you” for generating effective vaccinations and an expanding arsenal of medicinal therapies. COVID-19 should be knocked back and reduced to an endemic bug as a result of the combo.
“It’ll simply be another sickness that we’ll all want to stay away from,” Fain adds. “And we at the Royal Caribbean Group will continue to put in place strict processes to defend ourselves against it.”
