One of the most anticipated events in recent memory, A$AP Rocky and Wyclef Jean welcomed guests to a hot new travel rewards platform on August 1st. The event is not just any party; it’s a launch party for Bilt Rewards, which officially launched this past Thursday.

Bilt Rewards, a rewards platform for millennials and Gen Zs to earn points towards discounts at brands like Nike and NikeLab. To launch their new site with Wyclef Jean in the house!

I had the opportunity to attend Wyclef Jean and A$AP Rocky’s launch party for their new travel rewards platform, Bilt . I got to speak with both artists about what they hope to accomplish with this venture.

I am compensated for the content and several links on my site. Citibank, American Express, Chase, Barclays, and Capital One are all advertising partners on this site. My advertising partners have not reviewed, authorized, or supported any of the thoughts stated in this article. I don’t write about all credit cards; instead, I concentrate on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same). The offers and advantages described on this website are subject to the terms.

The Mastercard Bilt offers no annual fee and allows you to earn up to 50,000 transferrable points per year when you pay rent – a category of expenditure where you can’t earn points with any other card without paying a service like Plastiq 2.85 percent. Furthermore, the card earns double points on travel and triple points on dining, and both United and American Airlines (as well as Hyatt, among others) are transfer partners.

Last night, I went to a Bilt-Wells Fargo event at Summit One Vanderbilt in New York City to celebrate the introduction of their new alliance.

This achievement was noteworthy for both parties for a variety of reasons.

  • Bilt Rewards is a one-of-a-kind reward program, one of the first in a long time. Their credit card is also unique in that it provides great value, high rewards, no annual fee, and the possibility to earn points by paying rent for free.
  • Bilt, on the other hand, has been unable to expand its credit card portfolio. There was a list of people on the waiting list. People were unable to apply. Wells Fargo takes care of it. The Bilt Rewards Mastercard is widely accessible because Wells can manage the size and volume.
  • This also provides Wells Fargo with a very desirable co-brand card as well as a highly value travel card, something they previously lacked.
  • Wells Fargo is a large bank with little experience with co-branded credit cards. This establishes them as a force to be reckoned with. It also allows what is often thought of as a staid, conservative bank to reach out to younger wealthy customers. (Bilt is present in all of the main corporate-owned high-rise buildings in the United States.)
  • Bilt Rewards goes from being a modest upstart to a large competitor positioned to fight with Ultimate Rewards and Membership Rewards now that Wells has backed them up.

The Bilt Rewards program is a good one, but the Wells Fargo alliance makes it much better. Although Wells Fargo is a large bank, its collaboration with Bilt provides them a significant footprint in co-branding and tourism. As a result, I wanted to attend the launch.

In addition, I am familiar with several of the individuals involved. Dan Dougherty, who handled the portfolio at Barclays and used to oversee the Southwest Airlines co-brand at Chase, is leading Wells’ cobrand team. Richard Kerr (the Award Travel 101 Facebook group and The Points Guy) has been a long-time friend of mine at Bilt, and the director of the loyalty program is Dave Canty, who formerly worked at IHG and JetBlue. Last November, I met Ankur Jain, the creator of Bilt. As a result, I wished to congratulate them.

The event was a wonderful chance to reconnect with old acquaintances.

The main attractions were artists Wyclef Jean and Rocky A$AP, however many of the other attendees, including as Dr. Oz and Mayor Adams, were also well-known. I had to look up Rocky A$AP on the internet.

I didn’t have to look up Wyclef Jean on the internet, however.

The Bilt launch event was a lot of fun – and very cool to be there with Wyclef Jean, Rocky A$AP, Mayor Adams and Dr. Oz – but even cooler is that Wells Fargo has a genuine top travel card and has entered the co-brand space with some thunder.

While Bilt is a product that provides customers with something they can’t get anywhere else (free points for their greatest spend) in a top travel card with no annual cost.
